The first eight months of 2017 were an art drought. Then we spent the last four months of the year in Spain (we were on sabbatical) and, well, how could one not be inspired?! Plus there were like 4 art supply shops in a 100m radius from our flat, so! I did a lot of painting. For some reason, I was magnetically drawn to gouache at the time, and in retrospect, I’m glad I was, because the saturated pigments really feel true to my experience of living in Spain and traveling to Portugal and Morocco while we were there.
